Workshop Tasks

Images in the Wild

Our first task of the new semester was to go around the city and find images to take photographs of.  These could be any images that are overlooked in our daily lives, these can range from advertisements, shop displays, posters etc. The idea is to create our own unique images from someone else’s work.

This image was taken from a shop window display. The original image shows a women standing in a matching coat and wellington boots, my image takes away the top half of the image and focuses on the yellow watering can as the colour brings more out of the image.

The second image was taken from the Waterside Shopping Centre The original image was on the side of the lift and was adverting for one of the shops. The image shows a male model looking past the camera, I initially took the photo at an angle to not replicate the original image.

Camera Tests

This weeks session we went out to test the cameras we’d be using for our work. We had a list of categories in which we had to shoot that would have to be on the University campus.

Still Life

During the workshop, we were asked to take photos of objects. I wasn’t too happy with the original images I took in the workshop and so went out in my own time to take a range of photos. This task helped me improve my skills with the camera and how using a different lens can show an alternative view of certain objects.

Portrait

During this workshop task, we were given a range of lens to play with. This helped give a different perspective of shooting portrait photos and how it can affect the look of the person shown as well as the depth of the background.
